How to Effectively Do Marketing For Medical Practice

We currently live in a world where marketing is king. How you handle your marketing can determine your client share in the industry. This holds true for cars, fast food, gadgets, and even in the health care industry. The reality of it is that the more known you have, the more patients you are more likely to get.

While the old school approach of marketing through word of mouth and referrals are still effective, these old ways have strong competition due to the evolution of both technology as well as the behaviour of the consumers. As such, we must keep up with the times to still be competitive.

With this in mind, here are some tips that can get your hospital or private practice more known to the general public, which can eventually translate to more consultations and patient visits.

Use Social Media

There are literally billions of social media users all over the world. Considering only those within the locality of where your practice is located, there are still millions of potential patients to be found. Examples of social media sites include:

  • Youtube
  • Instagram
  • LinkedIn

Create social media accounts or profiles for your own practice or for the hospital that you are working in and network with different people and even other organizations. Don’t forget to update your page with relevant and professional information such as news relating to your practice or any health-related topics that the public may find useful.

It also would not hurt to have some fun when you post in your account, but make sure that these are wholesome, would not be offensive, and is still related to what you are trying to sell, which is your hospital or yourself.

Don’t forget to respond to any inquiries and comments as well. A good level of engagement will increase your chances of having people interested in the services that you have to offer.

Provide Multiple Communication Channels

Aside from emails and phone numbers, you can also open up different channels so that potential patients can inquire or make appointments with you. Popular means of communication that most people use nowadays include:

  • Viber

If you feel overwhelmed with the number of people messaging you, you can always use chatbots that can generate automatic replies. Of course, you should check on messages once you are available so that you can respond personally to any questions or concerns.

Whether you want to advertise your hospital or private practice, you can create a website that can help you promote online. Many tools such as WordPress or Wix will allow you to create your own site without any programming experience. Of course, you can also hire a web developer to do this for you.

Once your site is up and running, you should fill it with relevant content such as blog posts or informative videos. These can then be shared on your social media sites so that they can be aware of and visit your site.

Be an Intellectual Source

Another way to get renown is to be involved in different media such as videos or print. You can make yourself available for print or videos which can include medical journals, TV interviews, or Youtube videos where expert medical knowledge is required.

In these types of media, it is very much acceptable to provide information such as your specialty or where you work. This way, you would be more recognizable and may even be sought after by those who like what they see or read about you. Being visible in intellectual articles of videos will also significantly increase your credibility and expertise in the eyes of the public.

Take Advantage of Freebies

One effective strategy that you can put your name out there is through giving freebies to customers. Give free items whether they are being released from the hospital or have just finished their first consultation. This way, they would feel that they are valued and would most likely return and even put in a good word for you to their friends and family.

Giving away free stuff can also be a marketing advantage especially if you plaster your names around these items. Putting your names on pens, towels, caps, or bags that will be carried around by people wherever they go can serve as free advertisement for your practice.

Solicit for Reviews

Before you let go of a patient, encourage them to leave a review about the service that they have received. This is especially important if you were found online, and if the patient is particularly satisfied with the service that you were able to provide. Most of the time, they would be glad to provide feedback online if you ask them.

Having positive reviews from actual patients is a great way to build trust online. It will improve your reputation and instil brand recognition so that even those who are not aware of your practice will get to know about you and see you as someone that can provide satisfactory and quality health care.

Use SEO

Hiring an SEO specialist is very helpful if you want to go full force in marketing your medical practice. SEO experts can help your search rankings in Google so that those looking for particular keywords online will have a higher chance of seeing your site at the top of search results.

Research shows that search engine users rarely go beyond the second page of search results. As such, your page must appear as near to the top as possible. SEO is a long and continuous process, and progress may be slow, but ranking high in Google is well worth it due to the traffic that it will be able to bring.
