Social Media Marketing for Medical Practices

Social media is a very powerful tool for reaching a very wide audience. It serves many purposes, but it all leads to one ultimate goal – to get more clients. While you may have other altruistic motives, being able to close deals and attract potential patients is the end-all and be-all of any social media campaign.

While there are many strategies on social media marketing, you have to be very careful that you pick the right one. It would not be prudent to just post anything that you want just so you could say that your practice has an active social media account. Just ask anyone who has experienced backlash from their posts and you’ll know how important this tip is.

As such, here are some ways by which you cast boost and improve your social media campaigns as well as improve the reputation of your online profile.

Help in Raising Awareness

Providing accurate information, especially in these times when fake news is very prevalent, is very important if you want your practice to earn prestige and recognition. By sharing relevant, accurate, and up to date information, you can have more visitors that will be interested and engaged in what you have to say.

The information that you share does not even have to belong in your specific niche, although it has to be within the vicinity. For example, if you are running an OB clinic, you can provide news about the ongoing COVID pandemic and recommend that expectant mothers visit you to ensure that they and their babies are safe.

Credibility is of utmost importance, especially if your audience is looking for someone to treat them. By providing accurate and important information that your potential patients would be interested, they will know that you are knowledgeable in the field and can be trusted to solve their medical issues.

Communicate With Your Audience

Whenever you make a post, there are bound to questions, comments, or suggestions. Make sure to address these whenever you can and in a timely manner. Actively engaging with your market will show that you have taken the time to entertain them, which will endear you to potential clients.

Of course, in the case of trolls or comments that do not provide value to what you are trying to say, feel free to ignore them. Whenever possible, delete the comment and block the poster altogether. As much as possible, do not engage with these negative people unless you have something very essential as a comeback.

Don’t forget to soft sell, too. Whenever someone asks about your knowledge on a subject matter or about any of your offered services, always encourage them to contact you directly. You can also provide promotions and other special offers to those who like or share posts. That’s free marketing, and you should appreciate that.

Always Be Professional

Social media posts for your medical practice need not be serious all the time. You can share the occasional funny cat picture or two, but always remember that there are certain boundaries that should not be crossed especially when it comes to issues such as politics, race, gender, or religion.

We live in a world that people can take offense in even the most trivial of matters. This can either be a good thing or a bad thing, but the reality is that any form of backlash can negatively affect your reputation. As such, make sure that your posts do not offend anyone, and try to keep neutrality about public issues at all times.

Of course, you can always show support about a certain politician, or even your favorite sports team. However, do know that it has the potential to lose you a sizable chunk of potential patients, most often in the form of supporters of the opposing side. If this does not bother you, then post away.

Create Partnerships

This does not mean using an influencer to pose in front of your practice. Of course, that can also help for as long as they are endorsing a service that was actually done by you. What we are trying to say here is that you can boost your credibility by joining forces with recognizable brands and endorse each other.

You can create promotions with your local insurance company. You can tie up with larger hospitals that can refer specialized cases to you. You can even partner up with charitable institutions where you can provide free treatments for the needy. The possibilities and combinations are practically limitless.

Not only can you advertise these events on your own page, but your partner can provide you with an even bigger and wider reach, especially if they are a nationally or globally known brand. This partnership can help you immensely, and the benefit can be felt with just a single post of a very powerful online influencer.

Be Consistent

Regardless of whether you only have one or multiple social media accounts, make sure that you update them regularly. Ensure that you consistently provide relevant content to all your accounts, and you can also have them refer to each other from time to time.

If you have an assistant that manages your social media accounts for you, make sure that only one person or team handles them. It is important that the tone of your respective accounts are in sync with each other. Of course, make sure that every post has your stamp of approval.

Research on the optimal posting times as this will affect how many people will see your content. You can also use boosts which help in generating more views which, in turn, will translate to more patients. There are also apps that can help you schedule posts so that you can manage them more effectively.

Social media has, for the past years, completely dominated the marketing industry. It is a very effective medium in this time of technology and connectivity. By managing your social media marketing effectively and by applying the strategies mentioned above, your practice can get from relative obscurity to superstar status in no time flat.
